PROJECT: Oil Depots (Renovation & Extension)
ANTICIPATED BUDGET: USD160M (To be completed by Developer Company) INTRODUCTION: In order to improve oil supply and all associated and dependent industries, Mauritania urgently needs to renovate and extend the oil storage tanks in Nouakchott (it’s capital) and Nouadhibou - currently, all petroleum products consumed in Mauritania are delivered to Nouadhibou’s Port. The oil wharf in Nouakchott is not able to accommodate large offshore vessels and since oil storage capacity in Nouakchott is limited, oil products have always been transported from Nouadhibou to Nouakchott’s tanks by cabotage. However, a new oil terminal is under construction in Nouakchott and is scheduled to be commissioned (date tbc). As a result, oil products will be directly delivered to Nouakchott’s storage tanks. The work entails the following: -In Nouakchott: to renovate existing facilities and build new storage capacities that will be required to meet the demand of the southern areas of the country; -In Nouadhibou: to renovate all storage facilities. Also, depending on capacity requirements, some tanks may be converted to store other products such as fuel oil. The pipelines that are connected to the tanks as well as the ancillary equipment (e.g. electrical systems, fire protection, etc.) FINANCE MODEL: PPP SUSTAINABILITY, TECH & FEASIBILITY STUDY: Completed.
